1 hurt after shooting at car wash in southeast Houston, shots fired toward deputy, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A person was injured, and a deputy was shot at after a shooting at a car wash in southeast Houston on Friday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.

While authorities confirmed a person was shot, they did not say what condition the person was in, nor did they provide a description.

HPD did not say whether anyone was in custody or whether an active search was underway.

Investigators did confirm that a Precinct 2 deputy constable was shot at, but was not struck and did not return fire.

Images from the scene located at 10899 Sabo Road showed crime scene tape as police investigated the incident.

A woman who was in the middle of a food delivery at a Wingstop across the street heard a gunshot and saw a man take off running from the scene, while another man fell to the ground.

"I got in my car and drove all the way across the street to the car wash to get to him, and I noticed he was bleeding out," Moneka Jones said. "So I took a towel, applied pressure until the ambulance came. And when the ambulance came, we switched places. So I'm hoping he's in full recovery."
